Ed Helms, John C. Reilly, Anne Heche and Sigourney Weaver are rumored to have been filming the movie Cedar Rapids here in town. It doesn’t surprise me. Ann Arbor has been the home to many film sets since it’s so cheap to shoot here instead of some where else.

Just last year I was out to lunch with my coworkers at Conference Room R and the rapper, Eve, came out onto the patio with a huge group of people and sat behind us. We later found out it she was in Drew Barrymore’s movie, Whip It and they were filming in Saline, the next town over. In fact, one of my coworkers has a friend who ran into Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore 4 or 5 times at the Whole Foods by my place. Crazy!

There is an abandoned office building down the street from where we work and just a few months ago there were RVs, food trailers, and security every where because another movie starring Anthony Edwards was being filmed in our area.

This week, however, we had another situation with that empty parking lot. Again, we had food trailers, guards, crew members scrambling around and even one night I saw huge production lights on as if a scene was actually being done. The same coworker whose friend ran into Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore, recently ran into Sigourney Weaver and John C. Reilly at the same Whole Foods.

Looks like maybe the rumors are true…? My coworkers and I ventured out to be our own little paparazzi crew to see if we could find anything.

We did find the film set and the film location for Cedar Rapids, but no Andy Bernard or other stars were found. They must be shooting late at night because last night REB called me to tell me he’d taken a different way home to avoid traffic and saw a bunch of production lights, a full-on set and police directing everyone out of the way, and to move quickly.

I swore I wouldn’t be a celebrity hound, but they’re on my turf right now! It’d be one thing if I was out in L.A. being an annoying tourist and stalker. However, this is where I live and the areas I know. Aw, who am I kidding? I’d be a total creepster and sneak onto that set during the night hours if I could. C’mon Nard Dog, where are you?
